Ms. Aylett joined Smith, Murdaugh, Little & Bonham, L.L.P. in February, 1991. Her practice includes representation of municipal utility districts and other political subdivisions. She serves as general counsel to several public entities and has acted as bond counsel for numerous tax-exempt financings. She advises her clients on election law matters and environmental law issues for political subdivisions and negotiates contracts with municipalities and private entities, such as real estate developers. She has an administrative law practice before the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, the Texas Water Development Board, and other state and local governmental bodies. She has acted as underwriter’s counsel in the issuance of city certificates of obligation and bonds.

Education

Ms. Aylett received her Doctor of Jurisprudence in May, 1990 from The University of Texas School of Law. She received a Bachelor of Arts in History (High Honors; Phi Beta Kappa) from the University of Arkansas in May, 1987.

Professional Affiliations

Ms. Aylett was admitted to the Texas State Bar in November, 1990. She is a member of the Houston Bar Association, the Association of Water Board Directors, and the National Association of Bond Lawyers. She has been a speaker at a Public Funds Investment Act training seminar, which provides training to investment officers for public entities. She has also been a speaker at the Association of Water Board Directors convention.

Community Service and Interests

Ms. Aylett previously served on the Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Bellaire and as a committee member on the Trails Committee and the Projects Committee of the Memorial Park Conservancy. She served on the scholarship committee of the Phi Beta Kappa Alumni Association of Greater Houston. She served as a committee member of the Houston Bar Association’s John J. Eikenburg Fun Run (which benefits the Center Serving Persons with Mental Retardation) and twice served as its co-chair. She enjoys traveling and gardening. She is married to Greg Gordon, and they have one daughter.
